Vacationing with Parkinson's and Sciatica!!
Dan and I and Olivia and Olya went on vacation to Jacksonville, Florida for a few days! We flew to FL on Sat and came home late today. I tried to leave Parkinson's home with my cats but of course, it came along with me unfortunately! I made sure to pack Tylenol, Gabapentin, and Carbidopa. I also took my cane because when I have to walk a long way, I really need to use it, especially in airports! We didn't plan anything in particular, we just decided to wing it! There are always fun things to do no matter where you travel. It is just nice to get away and spend time together! We stayed in a Double Tree Hotel in Jacksonville but we spent two whole days in St. Augustine! The first night we just took it easy, we went to the beach and then out to dinner at Red Lobster!
My PD was not that bad because I was sitting a lot of the time. On Sunday we went to a Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum and we went to the Alligator Farm! Olivia chose going to the Alligator Farm and the rest of us were game for anything! My Sciatica just throbbed and would NOT leave me alone the entire day and evening! I took as many pain pills as I was prescribed but they only took the edge off. I never want my family to miss doing things because of my medical issues so I try to grin and take it the best I can!
The Alligator Farm was quite an adventure! There were every size alligators and crocodiles imaginable!! The place was actually quite crowded! I keep thinking about those crazy reptiles, I dreamed about them. I kept thinking, if one gets loose I hope that my Sciatica and PD would cooperate with me running!! After the Alligator Museum, we headed over to the Ripley's museum! I was ready for a nap but that was not to be! At least at Ripley's, I could walk slower and find a place to sit down. The Alligator Farm was huge and we walked for about three hours in htere! That place was really crowded too! But we had a lot of fun looking at all of the weird stuff! I could not fall asleep that night! I wasn't scared or anything, I just had the worst insomnia! You'd think that all of that walking would have tired me out! And it did but Parkinson's chooses whether or not I get to sleep at night!
