SLEEPING and Parkinsons
I have so much trouble sleeping due to Parkinsons.
I have problems getting on my bed because it is a bit high, I have thought about getting a stool. Once I am in bed, I just lie awake for hours. I can't really move around or roll over unless I grab a bunch of sheets and blankets and really hold onto them with a strong grip. Then, of course, I get wrapped up in the linens and have more problems turning over. Sometimes I have to dangle one leg over the side of the bed to feel comfortable and then I have difficulty pulling it up later to get under the covers! I always get up to go to the bathroom a few times so I have to repeat the entire practice again!! When I fall asleep, I usually awake every 2 or 3 hours. In the morning I am always tired but I get out of bed by 9 a m. When I open my eyes I think, oh no, I have PD! i have to force myself to open my eyes. Then I have to force myself to get out of bed, I am always off balance after sleeping so that is a major ordeal!
Yesterday I went out to lunch with my two best friends from college. I have known both of them since I was 17 years old, so I have known them almost 50 years! YIKES! I am old! Mary brought our college yearbook from freshman year and we had so much fun looking at the photos and reminiscing and laughing!! I went to a small girls' college for two years before transferring to Penn State.
I LOVED that school so much but my mother made me transfer. When I was sitting chatting with my girlfriends Mary and Joanne, I totally forgot about Parkinson's and Sciatica! I met Mary the first day at orientation and we have been fiends since that day.
I am still cleaning out my house because I want to move. We have so much crapola! Priscilla called me today, we are going to a flea market tomorrow! I need NOTHING!! But I have so much fun shopping with my bestie!!! Later I am going to see the play HAMILTON with Olivia,Dan, Erica, John, and Kathy!! I hope that Parkinson's and Sciatica will be on their best behavior!
