Parkinson's Today

This is a post from my last year's blog!(Thankfulmomoffive)  I wrote a blog about 365 days of being thankful.   This time last year, I had no idea that I had Parkinson's.   I knew for a fact that I had sciatica!!  I STILL have the same sciatica pain!!! Parkinson's was not on my mind!! I  think I had Parkinson's   symptoms last year and just attributed it all to sciatica issues!  I was off balance, had difficulty getting up from a chair, and had difficulty turning over in bed. Now it runs my life 24/7!!  I have to make sure that I take my meds and have a walker with me!  I am still so thankful for the family and friends who share  my life!

Today I am thankful that I went to acupuncture with Renee!  I was a virgin acupuncture patient!  I must admit that a few of the sticks hurt a little but I am willing to do anything to rid myself of the sciatica pain.  The room was warm and soothing and I almost fell asleep. The acupuncturist was a young woman who was soft spoken.  Renee set up the appointments for us and she was right after me in the same room. The acupuncturist was a "close- talker." I don't like people in my personal space but she was way into it and I wanted to push her away. I couldn't back up  from her because I was sitting in a chair! Some of my students were a bit of close talkers and in my personal space but they were only kids so it was OK. And I could always back away from them. Olivia didn't know about personal space when she first came from Ukraine.  She would say "I can help you mommy!"  and I would see her almost stuck to my side, I could barely move but it was so cute I didn't mind at all.  She would be so close to the people in line in the stores that I would have to move her back.  That was how it was when we were in Ukraine.  If there was a tiny spot anywhere, a Ukrainian would step into it, even in a long line.  They would step in front of anyone anywhere! There was a Seinfeld show years ago about a close-talker and I laughed to myself when she was so close and I thought of the show.  I really need my personal space.! I don't think the acupuncture worked but I supposedly need 8-10 more sessions. I'm getting an epidural block on Monday, if that doesn't work I'll continue with the acupuncture shots and the close-talker! After our acupuncture treatments, we went to lunch at a cafe around the corner.  It was nice and I am thankful for the time with Renee! Kids grow up in the blink of an eye!
Olivia came home from school with redder hair today!  Apparently she didn't thinks she was red enough.  I liked it better with just one treatment but it is her hair so she can do what she wants to do with it!  She was blond, which I started to get use to and really like, then she switched to red, now she is really red!  I just hope she doesn't come home with blue or pink or purple hair!
I am also thankful that Olya came home for the weekend.  She brought her boyfriend Matt home with her.  Olivia picked them up at the train station.  I ordered pizza and fries and they picked the food up on the way home!  I like dinners that are quick and easy, almost everything  was disposable!  Frankie thought it was funny that Olivia ate her pizza with a knife and fork. I usually do that too! Her pizza had all kinds of toppings on it, onions, pepperoni, peppers, and mushrooms so she needed a fork! The four of them went to pick Dan up at the airport tonight. On the way home, Dan stopped and got them all take-out food and milkshakes(always about the food)!!Tomorrow they are all going bowling! I like that they hang out together!
I am thankful for my crazy cats!  They keep life interesting!  Olivia bought a cat bed for Nittany, the cat we got over a year ago.  He didn't want any part of it! We would put Nittany in the bed and sit and pet him.  As soon as we would put him into it, he would look for a chance to escape, he would jump out and run away from the room.  Now we have Rosie, and she loves the cat bed.  Rosie loves to sleep or relax in the cat bed.  But Nittany gets in it now any chance he gets, especially if Rosie is in the room.  He looks uncomfortable in it but he stays in it and looks at Rosie the whole time! Nittany is really too big for the cat bed but he doesn't care! He just wants Rosie to know that it is his bed!
