Parkinson's and Hamilton
Today I went to see the play Hamilton! It was beyond fabulous!! I just loved it! I took it easy all morning because I didn't want to be tired at the play. Whenever I am tired, my Parkinson's symptoms kick into overdrive! I was OK walking into the theater, Dan dropped me off at the door. Our seats were on the Mezzanine section, we had to walk up a huge flight of stairs and there was NOT an elevator in sight!
It was so difficult to get seats to this play. I was in a drawing just to get to be able to purchase seats! I saw the drawing info on the local news channel. I rarely win anything, I am not a lucky person, but I thought, hey, it's free so I'll try it. I was one of the people chosen to be able to log in to try to buy tickets! I was able to purchase four seats from the drawing and then I bought two single seats in another section. I wasn't able to purchase handicapped seats because they were already taken by the time I was able to log in to purchase tickets. I gave the 4 seats together to Olivia, Dan, my BIL, and my niece Erica. My niece Erica is always up for going out to a play or the movies, etc. Kathy's other daughter Natasha said she wanted to see the play also but I couldn't get any more tickets. Kathy and I had the two single seats in another section. When she and I got to that section we had to walk down a huge and steep set of stairs. I told the usher that I was afraid to walk down the steep stairs because I had Parkinson's. Fortunately, the usher was very sweet and she held onto my arm and lead me down to the seat. My sister has a nerve disorder and she was too scared to walk down the steps so she stood for the first half of the play. Then, unbeknownst to me, they put her in one of those private boxes on the side of the theater! She told me that she kept trying to get my attention to go sit with her! (I think the tickets for those seats were about $1,000 each!!)There were handrails on both sides of the aisle so I could get down with help and I could go back up by myself. ! My sciatica was not as bad as usual because I took two Tylenol earlier in the day and I took a Motrin right before I got out of the car!
If you can get tickets to Hamilton, then go!! It is definitely worth the sky high price for the tickets.
I was exhausted by the time the play was over because I had to walk up the steep flight of stairs and then I had to walk down two huge flights of stairs to get out of the theater! After the play, we all went and ate at a small Italian restaurant across the street. The food was great and we all had fun chatting and laughing! (Always about the food!!)
Hamilton: An American Musical is a sung-and-rapped through musical about the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, with music, lyrics and book by Lin-Manuel Miranda,[1][2] inspired by the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by historian Ron Chernow. Incorporating hip hop, R&B, pop, soul, traditional-style show tunes, and color-conscious casting of non-white actors as the Founding Fathers and other historical figures,[3][4][5] the musical achieved both critical acclaim and box office success. The play details Hamilton's life in two acts, along with how various historical characters influenced his life such as Marquis De Lafayette, Aaron Burr, John Laurens, Hercules Mulligan, Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, Angelica Schuyler, Peggy Schuyler, Phillip Hamilton, and former presidents George Washington, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson.

We had to walk only about a block to the parking garage but by then my sciatica was front and center. It always wants to be the center of attention and it is because the pain is so terrible. My friend told me that she had sciatica over a year and she could barely sit on a chair or sleep at night so she decided to have surgery. She told me that she woke up from the surgery pain free! I may get to that point but I would try the radio frequency ablation procedure first. My balance was a little off from Parkinson's so Dan drove home. I definitely believe there is a link between sciatica and Parkinson's. I just sat on the couch for the evening because I had no energy left to do anything.
One of my blog readers commented that she has a "bed loop" which she uses at night to help her turn over or move around in bed. I would love to have something like that! I don't know if she made it herself or if she purchased it somewhere. I will share the info when she responds to me!
