Side effects of SI JOINT INJECTION

Yesterday I had an SI JOINT injection shot for my sciatica pain.  I chose to go under anesthesia to have it, it could be done with or without anesthesia.  The anesthesia was twilight anesthesia and I think I was out less then 15 minutes or so. I heard the nurse anesthetist say the propofol would work in about 20 seconds after she put it in my IV vein.  I think that is the stuff that Michael Jackson overdosed on.

What is propofol?

Propofol (Diprivan) slows the activity of your brain and nervous system.
Propofol is used to put you to sleep and keep you asleep during general anesthesia for surgery or other medical procedures. It is used in adults as well as children 2 months and older.
Propofol is also used to sedate a patient who is under critical care and needs a mechanical ventilator (breathing machine).

Gastrointestinal side effects

Common (1% to 10%): Nauseavomiting
Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Hypersalivation, cramping, diarrhea, dry mouth, enlarged parotid, nausea, impaired swallowing, vomiting, ileus
Very rare (less than 0.01%): Pancreatitis, abdominal cramps[Ref]
I was fine going under the anesthesia and I thought I was fine coming out of it!  Apparently, it took them about 15 minutes to wake me up. I didn't think much of it because I hadn't slept well for the last few nights.  We were out of power due to a storm for the last two days and I was so afraid that I would oversleep and miss my injection!! A few hours after I got home, all hell broke loose physically! I was so sick to my stomach and had terrible diarrhea and vomited several times all night long! I don't think I had a virus or anything because it was different than that. It was much more violent than a flu bug!  I thought I would have to go to the ER but I finally fell asleep a few hours into the night and I slept about two hours but back it came!
Today I feel so much better but not great. I am so glad that my friends are coming over for a swim and barbecue because it makes me get up and move around. I always set up a day or two before just in case something happens so I am glad I I did that!! And I always feel better when I get out of bed! HAPPY JULY 4TH EVERYONE! I hope you enjoy your day!!
