First July 4th With Parkinson's and more SI Joint side effects
Yesterday was July 4th. I normally get up and go to the July 4th parade in our area. However, I was not able to go this year due to my Parkinson's and the side effects from my SI Joint injection. I could barely move on July 4th because I was up most of the night vomiting and with diarrhea. I didn't feel any better from the SI Joint injection but I know it can take up to 14 days to work! I had set up a lot of the July 4th barbecue items in my kitchen and I had put out all of the red, white and blue serving platters and bowls. Dan went and purchased the hamburgers and hot dogs and fruit the morning of July 4th so that the food would all be fresh! I was considering cancelling the barbecue but I didn't want to do that. Renee and Adam are in Alaska so they couldn't come and my sister went down the shore. My niece Natasha came to the barbecue, my bestie Priscilla and her son with his girlfriend Gianna, and my friend Joni and her husband Lee came. We had about ten people all together and it was the perfect number. Dan had to do all of the work because I didn't feel great, Olya was at work until 2 pm. Olivia and Natasha were in her bedroom chatting and then came out to the pool when Olya got home from work! Priscilla brought a salad and Joni brought a cooler filled with food and drinks. She had a lot of food left from her party last weekend! I couldn't eat a thing and my sciatica was so painful. I went in the pool because it was so hot outside! I had trouble going down the steps to get into the pool because my balance is off a bit. Once I got in the pool, I was OK but a little afraid. My Parkinson's doesn't let me feel like my normal former self. This was my first time in the pool with Parkinson's and sciatica. My Parkinson's was right there with me, and it let me know that it was in control. Moving around n the water felt great because I didn't have any weight on my bad leg.
I am glad we all got to swim before the storm. My Parkinson's is in a weird state since I got the injection. I am not sure why! I think my brain had to concentrate on my side effects from the SI injection. I still was so sick from it. I couldn't even stand the sight of the food. I sort of just sat on a chair inside and then we all went in the dining room with Olivia, Olya and Natasha. We all chatted and laughed for a few hours and while I was sitting there, I totally forgot about my sciatica and Parkinson's. Dan had bought a $100 box of fireworks but we couldn't set them off due to the thunderstorm and rain. Dan pulled the grill to the patio side doors and cooked the burgers and hot dogs! It was comical to watch him cook the burgers right at the patio door while it was storming outside! On Fri. morning, I called my pain management doc and my family doc but both offices are closed until Monday due to the holiday. Today I felt a little better and made up for the eating I missed for the last few days! Mt stomach is a little settled down so my appetite is back!!
