Klutzy Coordination and Parkinson's

I am now so uncoordinated from my Parkinson's.  I feel like I am falling forward. I already have severe sciatica and have had that on my left side for over a year.  Now that I am getting uncoordinated, I feel like I am being betrayed by my body!  I hate the IDEA of NOT being in control of my movements. I don't have tremors and if you saw me, I look OK and can sometimes walk around without my walker. Yesterday was a terrible coordination day. I used my walker most of the day. Yesterday late afternoon I walked out to the kitchen WITHOUT my walker. Somehow I manage to always get to the kitchen! (As my husband Dan says...it's always about the food!!!) I came  back in the room with an orange in a bowl and I smacked my three toes into the leg of my couch! I truly saw little stars (like in the comics). I could barely move. I am sure one or more of my toes are broken. I took a photo of my toes and they are a little bit purple. I think toes are so freaking UGLY! I don't know why I think that, but I do.  I know toes are important for keeping balance but now I don't even get that because I am not balancing correctly and I think my toes are UGLY!  Another effect of Parkinson's that I have to try to deal with!

Then in the middle of the night I got up to go to the bathroom and hit the same three toes on my bathroom scale and OMG it was SO PAINFUL! I think I need to wear shoes all day and maybe have them right next to my bed at night. I usually don't wear shoes in the house, my entire family knows to NOT walk on my rugs with shoes on. My rugs have lasted a long time and look good because no one(except guests, of course) can wear shoes and walk on my rugs.  The average lifespan of carpets is seven years and I usually keep them close to fifteen+.  My current carpets are only about 5 years old and look pretty good!(or else my eyes are pretty bad!!)Dan is really good with getting spots out of rugs.  I am glad that it happened to my left foot so that I can still drive. I can barely put any weight on my left foot because of my stupid broken toes!!!

  1. I literally feel your pain - although it's the toes on my right foot that I've broken and now, much to my dismay, I have to keep shoes on all the time or risk stubbing my toes again (Even a problem when I'm standing still - I wind up kicking the trim at the bottom of my kitchen cabinets) Being barefoot is much more comfortable BUT too dangerous!
