Beautiful Day at the Cemetery Visiting our daughter Amy

Today was an absolutely beautiful day, it was probably in the high seventies. When it's a nice day, we always take our folding chairs and sit at the cemetery for awhile. I had my book with me and Dan took the newspaper. On the front page was a sad story about two young women who used Heroin.  One young woman purchased the heroin and the other young woman died from an overdose.  The purchaser and her 17 year old sister left the young woman, an only child, in a bathroom in a fast food place when they couldn't revive her with water, etc. That young woman was found after they left and taken to a hospital where she died. Now,  the young woman who purchased the heroin  was sentenced to twenty something years in prison. Her 17 year old  sister testified against her and was set free after the trial  I think that is a rather severe sentence but a bright and beautiful young woman is dead forever.

At home,  I had to use my walker all morning. For some odd reason, I feel like I am going to fall forward. I was trying to get a tray out from my bottom drawer under the oven and I yelled to Dan to help me because I fell like I was going to fall forward. Fortunately, Dan was right there and stopped me from falling.
Dan and I finished making travel arrangements for our upcoming trips. It really is a job to find show tickets, book a hotel room and make flight arrangements. Dan and I are going to a show in  Vegas in the Fall.  We also made arrangements for our trip to the Bahamas with Olivia and Olya, and possibly Renee. Renee is not sure she can get off so she will let us know by the end of the week. I just LOVE the Bahamas, especially Atlantis!  W also made travel arrangements for Jacksonville, FL for Jan. I know I have to find a hotel for Jacksonville! We have a ton of frequent flyer miles so we are using them up for Vegas and Jacksonville! I hope I won't have a bad Parkinson's day on our trips.  I know for certain that I have to take one of my walkers. Dan and I sat at the cemetery. We miss Amy so much and I think we feel some comfort sitting in the place where she is buried.
My niece Erica and her friend Erie came over to swim.  They are just the nicest young women ever!  Erica and I see the world through the same view finder!! That is also the same view finder that my college friend Joanne sees though.  Joanne had been at my house making candy for our friend's daughter's
baby shower and she had left one of her candy molds at my house.  The night before the shower, her husband Joe said to her, "you should call Colleen and ask her to bring the candy mold to the shower!"  Joanne told him that she didn't need to call me because she knew I would bring the candy mold and of course she was right!! And Joanne knew I would pay her for half of the baby clothes that she purchased and I handed her the money as soon as I saw her! We are cut from the same mold!!
We had a barbecue for dinner and Erica stayed and ate with us.
Erie was going out to eat with her parents so she couldn't stay this time! We had fun chatting and eating! My Parkinson's was not that bad later in the day, it is ever present but I could walk outside without my walker and I could carry one thing in my hand!

  1. Well, Colleen, you have a lot to look forward to, that's for sure. Some lovely trips coming up. They say it's one of the most important things to a life: have something to look forward to.

Now, having said that, of course you and your husband, Dan, miss Amy. And while many people think it gets easier? Well, it doesn't, softer around the edges left and right and up and down, but not easier.

Start packing, Woman. You have some traveling and memories in the making.
