Mother's Day

Mother's Day this year was wonderful! My sciatica was not too bad on Mother's Day and I didn't need to use my walker at all.  That in itself was something to celebrate!! We had a low key celebration but I just loved it.  We missed Renee and Adam because they are usually home but Adam's niece Bella had her First Communion this weekend!  I am glad that Adam's mom had her three sons with her on Mother's Day.  She is a really good mom and raised a wonderful son, I wrote that under a photo once and her other son Dan said , "you mean sons." So, yes I mean sons! He is so funny! It is easy to be a wonderful son, but not as easy to be a wonderful son-in-law, but Adam fits the bill! Renee called me early in the morning to wish me a Happy Mother's Day!  She has to work most of the week but we will go out on Tuesday to celebrate! I received beautiful flowers from Joe and Kat and their girls. They smell so heavenly! They are one of the nicest flower arrangements I have ever received! Olivia gave me a ton of hair and make-up products.  And she showed me how to use them and did my hair for me with my flat iron. I looked much better than I normally do! Olya gave me a seeded birdhouse, it is so cute.  The birdhouse is seeded all over, after the birds eat all of the seeds, the birdhouse will be a home for a bird family! I am a bird lover! She also gave me a pop up card that plays Mom Sweet Mom!  Dan and I and Olivia and Olya, and my best friend Priscilla, went to eat a late lunch and then we went to the movies to see "The Hustle."  Priscilla is always cheery and pleasant.  My girls all just LOVE her!! She is such a wonderful friend and wonderful person. The Hustle is a strange movie, I didn't really like it although I really like the two main actresses! It only had a few funny scenes and a major twist at the ending which none of us expected!  Olivia and Olya really liked the movie!  I liked the candy!!

We went to a grill and pizzeria that we like in a neighboring community!  Later Joe called and I also spoke to my granddaughter Kaylee.  Kaylee is just the cutest and funniest little girl! She should do stand up comedy when she grows up! So many of my bereaved mom friends sent me messages and/or emails to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. It is difficult to truly be happy on Mother' Day when one of your children is dead.  I have several friends who have no relationship with one or more of their children.  I would so prefer that to having a dead daughter. I feel bad for those friends but where there is life, there is hope and there is always the possibility of reconnecting.  And even if that never happens, their children are alive and that is what matters most of all. I miss Amy so much.  Dan and I went to the cemetery in the morning to tell Amy how much I missed her and love her. It is a grief that is never ending and is so heartbreaking.  I kept thinking about my friends Roe and Linda who have passed away and how difficult Mother's Day would be for their children because they were both such wonderful and loving moms.  Death is  a part of life but young death is the hardest death to deal with.  No parent should bury a child.
