Disney, Parkinsons and Sciatica

We went to Disney World this past week!
My Parkinsons flared up now and then but was usually when my meds started to wear off.  Parkinsons was most definitely not a  barrier to having a good time at Disney. BUT SCIATICA was a huge barrier!! I rented a scooter because I could not stand long or walk long without a great deal of pain.  Sciatica and Disney do not mix well at all!! We took the train to Florida because Dan is a train aficionado! Dan loves to ride the train and to eat on the train so his two
favorite past times were fulfilled! We get the sleeper cars and the beds are actually very comfortable. Dan had ordered a car to pick us up at the train station and it was right there on time!
We stayed at an All Star Resort in Disney.  The rooms were nice and clean and the beds were comfortable and there was an elevator. The girls had their own room down the row from us.
The weather was beautiful, although it stormed one day in the late afternoon like crazy! I purchased and gave everyone a rain poncho before we left on our trip.  I reminded them to take their rain ponchos with them but they didn't do that. I had mine with me and put it on when it started to storm.  Dan and the girls had left to go to the Tower of Terror so I had no idea if they were caught in the storm. I was safe and dry inside the sing along to Frozen songs! Fortunately, Dan and the girls were near an overhang and didn't really get wet!
We had to ride the bus to get to a park each day.  Dan wanted to stay at a more expensive resort in Disney such as the Polynesian and I think I should have done that because of all the walking involved. I didn't even think of that when I booked the rooms.  It was a LONG walk from the bus stop at Disney into the park. I rented a scooter but it was a LONG walk to get to the scooter rental inside the parks. The scooter rental was $55 a day which I thought was quite reasonable.  I spoke to other people in the parks who had scooter rentals that were much cheaper, I think $30-$35 a day. I think it was better to rent from an outside place because the rentals were cheaper and the rental place delivered and picked up right outside your hotel room!!  And then you could have the scooter to ride to the bus stop into Disney parks and out of Disney Parks! I tried to walk but my sciatica was so bad that I just had to stay on the scooter.  My Parkinsons was controlled by my  meds almost completely.  So Disney and Parkinsons can easily work together but Disney and sciatica are not much of a match! I took an Aleve everyday because it took some of the sciatica pain away for a short period of time.
