Cryotherapy

Today Dan and I ran a bunch of errands. I was in pain but I took pain meds because I had things I needed to get done!  I know that I am at risk for pancreatitis if I take too many Motrin but I only took two pills today! It was still painful but I managed to take my walker and go to Boscovs, Michaels, Barnes and Noble, the Dollar Store, Microcenter, and Giant! I was really slow until the second Motrin kicked in.  I  NEVER can totally alleviate my sciatica pain but I keep trying! Dan was nice enough to drop me off and pick me up at the door of each place we went!   I got new sneakers at Boscovs.   I wanted black sneakers because most of my workout pants are black! We were there when the store first opened and the shoe department was mobbed immediately! I got myself and Olivia and Olya new shirts at Boscovs for an upcoming trip.  Olivia and Olya both had to work today.  When they finished work, the girls and I went to the salon.  They love  getting their nails done! I think it is  a Ukrainian thing!  Olivia, Olya, and I  got pedicures and manicures to the tune of $260.  I didn't know they were getting gel nails. Olivia and Olya got their eyebrows waxed in that amount also.  The woman who did my pedicure and manicure is an older Vietnamese woman who I have used for years.  She is so sweet and so nice! I know everything about her  two adult children, grandchildren, and her life in Vietnam!  She said to me, "do your daughters know how lucky they are?" LOL, of course not! She also said to me "you must be a millionaire to have raised five kids." I said, NO, I would be a millionaire if I didn't raise five kids!! I was so tired when I got home! I wanted to take a nap but then I would be up all night so I made myself stay awake!

I went into the dollar store to look for rain ponchos while Dan and Olya went into the book store, Olya got a book called After, it is a huge book. It was $17, Dan never minds buying books for the girls, I would have told her to go to the library!!
Dan went to microcenter to get new earphones for the girls! Of course, he paid for them. Olivia came into Giant with me while Olya and Dan went to get the headphones.  She is always throwing stuff in my shopping cart.  She got new shampoo, conditioner, and a big box of ice cream cones.  I had already checked out so I had to check out again for her stuff!!
Olivia and I found the rain ponchos in Giant!! She picked them out  and I didn't even look at what she got.  Now I have to go to Giant and return them sometime this week because she got 1 adult poncho and 3 youth ponchos!! She fits into the youth poncho but I will have to return two youth ponchos.
Olivia's boyfriend Frankie bought me a hanging flower plant for Mother's Day.  I just LOVE flowers!  He will be with his mom on Mother's Day so I won't see him then! Williamson was selling flowers and he had to help today! Frankie is a really nice guy!!

Olivia thinks I should try cryotherapy for my sciatica. It is supposed to be good for joint and muscle pain.  Supposedly it is used by athletes. I might try the cryotherapy wand but I am afraid to sit in the tank!  I definitely am not against alternative treatments. I did 18 sessions in the Hyperbaric Chamber but it didn't help me at all. I will ask my pain management doc about cryotherapy and prolotherapy.

Localized Cryotherapy is a similar process to whole-body Cryotherapy, however it targets certain areas of concern for your body such as low back, neck, hamstring, ankle, knee, wrist, or elbow pain. During a four-to-six minute localized cryotherapy treatment, a licensed technician uses a wand that pumps out a liquid nitrogen vapor to the target area of concern on your body. Localized Cryotherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses cryogenic temperatures in order to induce your body to a similar reaction it has during whole-body cryotherapy. This reaction supports treatment of diseases and mobility dysfunctions.
You can use localized cryotherapy for several reasons. Do you have an injury or surgery that you are recovering from? Use localized cryotherapy treatments in conjunction with physical therapy to promote faster healing. Suffering from arthritis in your joints? Use localized cryotherapy treatments to specifically target the inflamed areas to ease the pain and inflammation. Does your lower back or shoulder hurt from sitting at a desk all day long? Use localized cryotherapy to target the areas that are causing you pain and discomfort. These are just a few of the many reasons to use localized cryotherapy. We encourage you to talk further with us about why you should be using the treatment. We are happy to help you decide which treatment will best fit your needs.
Cryotherapy is relatively new, so any benefits are yet to  be proven

Sitting in a cold tank might seem an odd path to health. But the trend, which goes by the name of cryotherapy, is becoming increasingly popular.
People, including self-described "Iceman" Wim Hof, claim that extreme cold can improve mental and physical health and even prolong life. So what does the science say?Research on cryotherapy is as new as is the trend for the treatment. So doctors do not fully understand all the potential benefits and risks of the process.
In this article, we look at some of the possible benefits to be had from cryotherapy healing, as well as other facts a person may need to know before they consider it.
  • Cryotherapy is any treatment that involves the use of freezing or near-freezingtemperatures.
  • Because cryotherapy is new, some potential benefits are not yet proven.
  • Cryotherapy might be a safe alternative treatment and preventative for many ailments.
  • Cryotherapy can be unpleasant, particularly for people who are unaccustomed to the cold.
  • The most popular form of cryotherapy involves sitting in a cryotherapy booth for 3–5 minutes.
Some people undergo cryotherapy facials, which apply cold to the face only. Others use a cryotherapy wand to target specific areas, such as a painful joint.
Most people use the term cryotherapy to refer to whole-body cryotherapy.
This is non-medical treatment in a spa or similar setting.
Doctors, however, also use cryotherapy. For instance, very cold temperatures can be used to freeze off warts or cancerous cells

Though unpleasant to begin with, cryotherapy tends to get better with each treatment, as the body adjusts to the low temperature.
It is generally safe, but it is important to talk to a doctor before trying cryotherapy.
Pregnant women, children, people with severe high blood pressure, and people with heart conditions should not try cryothera
