Congrats to Olivia!!!!!
Today Olivia graduated from Cosmetology School!
Her friends gave her flowers and a balloon! I think she felt a little bit sad to be finished. All of the girls in her class got close. She had a very small class. Everyone finishes at different times. She finished her 1250 hours!! We are really proud of her for completing her degree. Now she just has to take the state boards and she will be a fully licensed cosmetologist!!
I hope she passes the boards on the first attempt. She has been working part time at a salon and they have now hired her to be full-time. For the first year she has to be an assistant and learn from the other stylists. The mannequin below has my haircut!
She did it with clippers instead of scissors and it still came out looking great! We are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate! She chose the restaurant. I just have to stop and get a cake for her! Renee is coming but Adam is out of town on business.
This morning I got up, took a quick shower and got dressed. I had planned to go to drumming class but Olivia and Olya switched cars this morning. Olivia had my car at Cosmetology school. My car had my lightweight walker, my handicap parking sticker and my key fob which had my card for entrance to the gym on it. My sciatica was pretty bad but I had every intention of trying to do the class. I missed last week because we were in Disney. Tomorrow I am getting a shot in my sacroiliac joint. I am hoping that this is the answer to my pain. There are many causes. My PT thinks my sciatica pain is from my SI joint. I think she is correct, I have all of the symptoms. I also have an appt with a surgeon in July, he is the same surgeon we used for my daughter's spinal fusion.I think my pregnancies could have been a contributing factor, my first two babies were close to ten pounds each. Joe was 9 lbs, 14 ounces, and Amy was 9 lbs. 8 ounces. They never fit into newborn clothing! I have been buying newborn girl clothing for my niece because her shower is coming up soon. It is hard to believe that my adult children were ever that tiny!! As soon as I get my sciatica handled, I can start the LSVT BIG program for Parkinson's. They also want me to do the LOUD program for speech. No one except my husband thinks my voice is low. My PT told me that it would be beneficial to do the program just to get ahead of any speech or voice changes that might come up from my Parkinson's disease.
(The sacroiliac joint or SI joint (SIJ) is the joint between the sacrum and the ilium bones of the pelvis, which are connected by strong ligaments. In humans, the sacrum supports the spine and is supported in turn by an ilium on each side)
.As with most other joints in the body, the SI joints have a cartilage layer covering the bone. The cartilage allows for some movement and acts as a shock absorber between the bones. When this cartilage is damaged or worn away, the bones begin to rub on each other, and degenerative arthritis(osteoarthritis) occurs. This is the most common cause of SI joint dysfunction. Degenerative arthritis occurs commonly in the SI joints, just like other weight-bearing joints of the body.

Another common cause of SI joint dysfunction is pregnancy. During pregnancy, hormones are released in the woman's body that allow ligaments to relax. This prepares the body for childbirth. Relaxation of the ligaments holding the SI joints together allows for increased motion in the joints and can lead to increased stresses and abnormal wear. The additional weight and walking pattern (altered gait) associated with pregnancy also places additional stress on the SI joint
