New Patio Door and a Beautiful Dragonfly
Dan and I ordered a new patio door because our old door was so hard to slide open. The installers came today. We just never wanted to waste the money before but with Parkinson's, I am really weak so we ordered the door. Anderson Windows was so expensive, we just chose not to use them even though the door we had was an Anderson patio door. We thought it would be an easy replacement. Dan wanted a custom door because he thought it would fit better even though it was more expensive. When the two men came to the door, I opened it and had my walker. The one man said to me, "gee, did you have a hip replacement or something?" I said I have something! I have Parkinson's and need the walker to walk and for balance. I feel bad giving people that answer because they always look at me with pity but the truth is the truth! After I left he told Dan that his adult daughter has Parkinson's.
I miss all of the things I use to do before I had this disease. I wish I could walk without my walker. It is so annoying because it is close to impossible to carry anything. It even takes me so, so, so long to put on my coat or jacket. I usually need to ask someone to hold my left sleeve out for me. I am use to being independent so this is quite difficult for me. It is impossible to be independent with Parkinson's. I try to wear sweaters and pants that have lots of pockets for me to carry things. That would be a great business if I could sew.
My friend Leslie sent me this beautiful card, the envelope was as beautiful as the card!! She has known me since I was about 11 or 12. She is in Florida but has been reading my blog. She has such beautiful handwriting. She was president of the Philadelphia Calligrapher's Society for several years, I think. Leslie always thinks of others. She has a movie theater in her house and freely shares it with others! I have such wonderful and thoughtful friends.
Yesterday when I went to the chiropractor, he asked me where my fancy new walker was(a gift from my friend Carol)! I didn't think he would even notice what type of walker I had!
I wen to my pain management doc today. I really like her. She told me that I had to cut back on my dosage of Gabapetin because I have double vision and vertigo. First she didn't think it was a side effect of the Gabapentin because she had never had a patient with those symptoms. She looked it up and told me that it was a side effect, so I have to take a lower dose. I dread doing that because I can barely tolerate the pain I have with the dosage of Gabapentin I was taking.
